A leading mechanical contractor in San Francisco Bay Area, Marelich is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.

In presenting the award, Mayor Sweeney stated: "Marelich Mechanical has made a strong contribution to the Hayward community by locating and expanding their business operations in Hayward, by being an industry leader, by providing livable wage job opportunities to local residents, and by contributing to the vitality and overall economic well being of the Hayward community."

"We are extremely honored to be recognized by the City of Hayward," said Keith Atteberry, President and CEO of Marelich Mechanical. "Marelich has established its reputation as the go-to company in the Bay Area by combining advanced technology, experienced project management, and the highest standard of craftsmanship to ensure all of our projects result in the kind of reliable, high-quality mechanical systems that owners demand in their facilities."

When it relocated to Hayward in 1987, Marelich Mechanical was a relatively small HVAC/plumbing contractor; it has since experienced immense growth, and now employs 225 people. The completion of the company's new Hayward fabrication facility earlier this year (which resulted in its workspace being increased three-fold), which Marelich then proceeded to relocate to Hayward from another nearby town, demonstrated a further solid commitment of growth, commitment, and "staying power" to the city of Hayward.

Marelich Mechanical has worked on a number of high-profile projects in the Bay Area, such as the Kaiser San Leandro Hospital and central utility plant, the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, and the Gateway Power Plant. Also, the company was recognized by ENR's California Construction magazine with "Best 2010 Projects" awards for its work on the Chevron Richmond Technology Center Building and the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.

According to Mr. Atteberry, Marelich's future success will result from its ability to diversify to meet its clients' constantly changing needs. "To continue to meet the demands of the dynamic marketplace in the Bay Area, we need to continually evolve," he explained. "While maintaining our strong presence in the commercial and healthcare markets, we are also focused on new opportunities that arise in office and TI work and want to be in a position to meet the challenges they present."
